Hi! My name is Neha. I am a queer, South Asian psychotherapist based in Oakland, CA. Welcome to my little corner of the world :)
I love what I do. It is a privilege to connect deeply with another and bear witness to an extraordinary journey. As a therapist, I bring a warm, non-judgmental, heart-centered presence to our work together. I'll invite you to slow down with me so that we can allow things to emerge that don't have the space to when we are busy or distracted. We will strengthen our knowledge about and connections to our nervous systems and our intuition, with the goal of increasing our embodiment, self-acceptance and self-compassion, insight and internal knowledge, and movement towards greater integration of all parts of our self.
I bring specialized training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Relational Somatic Healing (RSH), and experience working within queer communities to our work together. Previously, I have served as a therapist in hospitals, schools, and community mental health centers in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to my clinical work, I am a published researcher and academic studying race, class, gender, & the social determinants of health and mental health. My scholarship deeply informs my clinical practice, where I prioritize an intersectional, liberatory, & trauma-informed lens.
Outside of my therapy practice, I engage in:
Additionally, I am a dancer with a background in Indian Classical Dance (Bharatnatyam) & modern/global methodologies. This means that I may work particularly well with people who are artists, dancers, athletes, academics, etc. and have this lived experience.
I also hold some particular experience at the intersection of healing from trauma from classical arts education (& private school, lol), intergenerational healing , and processing inherited ~worms~ through expressive arts and somatic techniques,
If these interests overlap with any of yours, you are welcome to bring them into our work together.
My Creative Studio is called jasmine studio. I combine photography, dance, collage, paint, storytelling & other mediums to create original work. My first solo exhibition, GIRL YOU ARE RICH, EVEN WITH NOTHING will be on view at Michelle Thomas fine art gallery in San Francisco, CA from July 12- October 5, 2025
